Dubai got a taste of the London nightlife scene on Sunday night when British actor Jude Law hit the red carpet to open the city’s latest nightclub, The Act.
Dressed in a slim-fitting grey suit, he posed at the Shangri-la Hotel on Shaikh Zayed Road, where he’s holidaying in the UAE.
Also on the red carpet were British model Jodie Kidd and the club’s founder, Simon Hammerstein.
The Act Dubai, on the 42 floor of the hotel, is as much restaurant and theatre as it is club, with Peruvian food on the menu and performers on a stage. It is open only on Thursdays, and reservations are recommended.

Jude Law and Ruth Wilson prove their friendship is still going strong as they enjoy an evening at the theatre.

They became close pals while co-starring in a stage production of Anna Christie back in 2011.
And it would seem Jude Law and Ruth Wilson's friendship is still going strong as they enjoyed a night out at the theatre together on Thursday.
The thespian pair appeared to be in good spirits as they left London's Apollo Theatre after catching the critically-acclaimed theatre adaptation of Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time.
Cutting a stylish duo as they stepped out for the evening, Jude, 40, looked every inch the English gentleman in an immaculately tailored navy blue suit and slick white shirt.
Meanwhile, Ruth, 31, wrapped up against the chilly London weather in a stylish grey wool coat, a black fur snood and leather boots.
The pair first became close while co-starring in Anna Christie at London's Donmar Warehouse in 2011, and at one point their friendship was rumoured to have blossomed into something more serious after they were reportedly spotted kissing at the Groucho club.

Ruth has always been open about her admiration for her dashing co-star, saying: ‘He instantly disarms you because he’s so generous and open.’
However, it would appear the couple's friendship is purely platonic nowadays.

Jude Law: I'm no playboy

Jude Law says people "assume" he's a playboy.
The 40-year-old actor gained the reputation of being a lothario after cheating on actress girlfriend Sienna Miller with his children's nanny in 2005, and he has revealed people still perceive him as a love rat, even though it's not true.

In an interview with ShortList magazine, he said: "People assume that I'll be like that. You have to separate it and say, 'Well I know it's not me.' You learn to live with this dichotomy of who you are and who they're saying you are."
The Side Effects star remembers the frenzy his love life caused and recalls 2005 and subsequent years as a "horrible" period in time, because his acting was overshadowed by his personal life.
He explained: "That period was horrible. It was just boring. Boring, shallow and infuriating.
"I think it managed to [overshadow my acting] for a while, unfortunately. I was dragged, kicking and screaming, into the swamp, the mire.
"I'm not interested in gutter-sniping. There's too much good stuff going on. I was hoping to contribute to the good stuff and I felt as though I was suddenly pulled into this level of nonsense."
But Law believes his last few roles - including his portrayal of Dr John Watson in the Sherlock Holmes franchise and his appearance in the critically acclaimed Anna Karenina - have helped him turn the tide, and allowed him to be taken seriously as an actor again.
He said: "I realised quickly I'd have to keep my head down and hope that the work would win out. It seems to have so far."

But, dear Jude, WE know that you're not like magazines try to describe you...Believe US!! ;)

Jude Law at Paris Premiere: 'Side Effects'

Jude Law attends the premiere of his film Side Effects at the UGC Cine Cite des Halles on Thursday (March 7) in Paris, France.

The 40-year-old actor was joined at the event by director Steven Soderbergh.
“There’s a certain amount of minefields you have to tiptoe through in your 20s and 30s as an actor,” Jude recently told the BBC about roles getting better after 40. “The roles tend to be more, not two dimensional, but maybe a little bit more predictable – it’s the dashing young lead or the romantic interest.”

Jude Law sparks rumours of a new romance as he's spotted jetting into France with mystery woman

In December he was rumoured to be dating a PR executive 14 years his junior.
But now Jude Law has prompted speculation he has a new woman on his arm.
The Sherlock Holmes actor appears to have a new companion as he was spotted jetting into France on Monday with a pretty blonde in tow.
The lady, who looked like a model, also appeared to be ready to stay in the country as long as Jude as she dragged a suitcase behind her through Marseille airport.
Walking apart Jude smiled as he sauntered away from the plane carrying his leather man bag.
He appeared relaxed and happy in the company as he travelled comfortably for the trip.
The 40-year-old wore jeans with big turn ups, a T-shirt and smart trainers while covering his eyes in sunglasses ready to get in the mood for some warm rays.
Te mystery woman, meanwhile, looked equally relaxed sporting a smart casual ensemble.
She wandered along a metre or two away from Jude as she showed off her style in leather look skinnies and a red leather jacket.
Keeping warm with a fur gilet underneath she carried a small white leather bag and kept her hair off her face with her own pair of sunglasses.
And if she is dating the Hollywood star it's clear to see why as she showed off her natural beauty appearing make-up free.
But more recently he was linked to 26-year-old PR executive Charlie Hayes-Jones, who once caught the eye of Prince Harry.
According to spies, the pair were spotted snuggling up on a sofa at London's Playboy Club at the end of 2012. They were also heard discussing their holiday plans. 'Charlie has been overheard excitedly talking about spending Christmas and New Year in Los Angeles and Las Vegas,' a spy told the Mail On Sunday in December. 'They seemed really happy.'
The couple later decided to drop Las Vegas from their itinerary and Jude has been keen to point out to friends he is in LA with his children and no one else.
A friend of leggy Charlie added: 'She is in PR and so is savvy enough to know how to keep her relationship with Jude quiet but it was plain to see they were a proper couple at the club. They have also been spotted at a Mayfair club together.'
Charlie posted updates about her trip to California on Facebook, including a picture of her feet with the caption: 'California is for lovers.' But she made no mention of Jude.
Prior to Charlie, Jude was linked to wardrobe assistant Ellen Crawshaw, 31, whom he met on the set of his upcoming film Dom Hemingway.
Jude grew close to Ellen during filming in the South of France and East London.
But while his romantic life appears to be quite busy, Jude has also been busy filming his latest set of movies.
He has been continuing to film Dom Hemingway, which he had to gain 13kg for his role in the BBC produced film.
Law, who plays an ageing petty criminal who's been released from prison in the production, revealed to the Telegraph he enjoyed filling himself up on bad products to gain the weight: '(Drinking) ten Coca-Colas a day, (was) amazing! Oh, it was a joyous role to take on. Because I am at a stage in my life where I'm panicking a bit. 'Ooh, am I going a bit bald? Am I getting a bit…?'
'You can't help doing that in your late 30s, can you? When you realise that you're no longer the 21-year-old you used to be. So playing someone who was letting it all go was really liberating.'
Although he has since lost the weight again and admits he's got his confidence back: 'Now that I’ve lost the weight and my receding hairline isn't quite as bad as we made it look for the part, I can look in the mirror and think, 'Oh, it’s not that bad! I’m still looking all right, actually!'
A representative for Jude has been contacted for comment.
